CONCERT EXILS DAVID LIVELY PIANO & ELSA GRETHER VIOLON

Among the many works in the repertoire of our two artists, we have chosen "Exils", a program that is a vibrant tribute to the diversity and richness of the world's people and cultures.

From the forced exiles of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, who moved to Berlin, to the chosen exoduses of Ernest Bloch, a Swiss composer who became a naturalized American, and Serge Prokofiev, a Soviet exile first in the United States and then in France, to Francis Poulenc's real or imagined journeys to Spain with his Sonate à la mémoire du poète Federico Garcia Lorca, to America with Maurice Ravel and the Blues of his Sonate, and to Central Europe with his Tzigane.
