Maison Luc is a large mansion house with a classical design. It was built by Jacques-René Hermant for one of the Luc brothers, Victor Luc, who ran a tannery and currier business and a tanning extract plant.
In 1900, the two brothers bought two adjacent plots of land on which to each build their own house; only Victor Luc’s residence has survived.
The eminent ceramics firm Gentil & Bourdet created an extraordinary staircase in glazed tiling, which is the only one of its kind among Nancy’s Art Nouveau buildings. In addition, Jacques Gruber supplied a magnificent stained glass panel of a Vosges landscape (Paysage des Vosges) and Louis Majorelle the fireplaces in the parlours.
