Concert - Petite Messe solennelle de Rossini

Referring to it as his "sin of old age", Rossini's work is a jewel of emotion, humor and religious intimacy. Rossini plays on the intensity of the colors and composes with many contrasts, dramatic crescendos, strong silences and a beautiful rhythmic momentum.
"Bon Dieu, la voilà terminée cette pauvre petite Messe ... Is this sacred music or sacred music? A little science, a little heart, it's all there. Bless you, then, and grant me paradise", declared Rossini. It is the original version for chamber choir, four soloists, two pianos and harmonium that we will savor during this concert.
