From February 5 to June 12, 2026, the Centre des mémoires Michel-Dinet takes you on a journey from the 14th to the 21st centuries through exceptional archival documents, and invites you to discover how coats of arms and seals have been used to represent those who wore or affixed them, as veritable brand images since the Middle Ages.
Long before social networking, lords, families, towns and communities used coats of arms and seals as "profile pictures" in color or wax, to assert their identity, legitimize their power, authenticate their deeds and leave their mark on history.
Today, the blaze of street art or rap, the distinctive sign of artists, extends this heritage: a new form of visual identity, urban, free and committed, a contemporary echo of the symbols of yesteryear.
On this occasion, the Archives de Meurthe-et-Moselle will be showing or revisiting exceptional documents, previously unseen pieces and works of art from all over the historic region.

So, give us your blaze... and we'll tell you who you are!

Throughout the exhibition, a program of events will accompany your discovery:
Lectures, guided tours, storytelling, seal restoration demonstrations...
