Exposition - Une expérience de la vie moderne - Nancy 1925

One hundred years after the 1925 Paris International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, Nancy 1925. An Experience of Modern Life aims to resituate the genesis and development of Art Deco in Nancy, tracing a history of taste in the decorative arts from 1900 to the end of the 1930s.
The exhibition Nancy 1925. Une expérience de la vie moderne, a collaboration between the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy, the Musée de l'École de Nancy and the Musée Lorrain, traces the history of industrial arts in Lorraine. It showcases municipal collections, including previously unseen holdings, as well as numerous loans from private collections. Pieces of furniture, glass, ceramics, stained glass, sculpture, painting, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' work, photography, film, visual and sound documentation, alongside everyday objects and testimonials, invite visitors to rediscover life in Nancy at a time that is largely unknown today.

A whole section of Nancy's artistic, social and cultural history in the first half of the 20th century is revealed through this sensitive tour.

Approved as an exhibition of national interest by the French Ministry of Culture, this multi-disciplinary exhibition, combining fine arts, decorative arts, history and society, redraws the physiognomy of creation in Nancy in the 1920s and 1930s.
