Hélène, 40, now lives in Nancy, after making it big in Paris, and works in a consulting firm. Christophe, on the other hand, has never left Lorraine, where he grew up with Hélène. Now, twenty years on, these two opposites meet again and believe that anything is possible. It's 2017, on the eve of a presidential election.

Connemara, published in 2022, is the fourth novel by Nicolas Mathieu, winner of the 2018 Prix Goncourt for Leurs enfants après Eux (Actes Sud).
