There's no shortage of words to describe Erik Satie's work and personality. In 1963, he emerged from oblivion with the world premiere of Vexations, a piano piece consisting of a single musical phrase repeated 840 times, played by John Cage and nine other pianists for 18 hours and 40 minutes.
Since then, Erik Satie's influence has not waned, and his work is universally recognized.

On the occasion of the centenary of Erik Satie's death, we invite you to evoke this unclassifiable musician through his correspondence, texts and lesser-known works.
As a tribute to his contribution to today's music - to his avant-garde, whimsical and even iconoclastic thinking - to our own perception of music 100 years after his death, we'll also be presenting some of our own musical creations.
