Mauvais Plants

The "Mauvais Plants" exhibition in the chapel of the Jardin Botanique Jean-Marie Pelt presents the work of six 1st-year art students from the École nationale supérieure d'art et de design de Nancy (Ensad Nancy).
This year, they tackled the issue of "weeds" or undesirable plants that grow where they are not wanted.
Under the guidance of Andrea Keen, professor of photography at Ensad Nancy, the young designers were invited to propose a photographic interpretation. They questioned this general term, commonly used but with uncertain contours, to produce photographs of plants and turn their attention to these often despised plants. Their work tackles this theme through different photographic approaches, sometimes humorous, sometimes poetic, sometimes inspired by scientific or documentary imagery. They present their singular views of these weeds, unloved by gardeners.
