Stroll through the Jardin Éphémère on Place Stanislas, decked out in Art Deco colors, discover the exhibition Nancy 1925, an experience of modern life at the Musée des Beaux-Arts and marvel at the Saint-Nicolas festive parade, which gives pride of place to the Roaring Twenties, to round off a year rich in events and discoveries around Art Deco.

The city of Nancy, in partnership with the CNRS, is offering themed tours and lectures on the different materials that inspired the designers of the ephemeral garden.

In the 1930s-40s, a new generation of materials emerged: bakelite, galalith, rhodoid, celluloid... Art Deco, a movement resolutely turned towards modernity, seized upon them with enthusiasm. This talk invites you to (re)discover these innovative materials, which overturned the codes of luxury, transformed design and elegantly accompanied the arrival of technology in the home.

With Sandrine Hoppe, CNRS researcher at LRGP (CNRS/Université de Lorraine).
