Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) was a brilliant theorist and visionary composer who revolutionized opera and the music of his time. His Traités sur l'harmonie, the foundations of modern musical theory, bear witness to a bold and innovative harmonic thinking that makes him one of the most influential figures in French music.

Nowhere is Rameau's creative power better expressed than in the theater, as Sébastien Daucé and his Ensemble Correspondances are keen to present in these excerpts from Dardanus, Hippolyte et Aricie, Les Boréades and Les Indes galantes. They return to Nancy after Charpentier's seductive David et Jonathas, performed two seasons ago. For this new Baroque voyage, Petr Nekoranec and Jean-Christophe Lanièce will be among the voices surrounding Sabine Devieilhe, one of today's leading coloratura sopranos.
