GENERAL THEME: THE EVOLUTION OF BIODIVERSITY
By Cyril Bontemps, Lecturer-researcher, INRAE Dynamics
and microbial adaptation, Université de Lorraine
Small but mighty! Bacteria, often thought of as simple and uninteresting, actually lead complex and varied lives. Just like us, they have a real social life, made up of interactions... and even sex! And this last, far from trivial, aspect could well be the cause of a third of human deaths in the years to come.
