Two centuries of domination, struggles and exile... and memories that are still irreconcilable. For over 60 years, relations between France and Algeria have oscillated between diplomatic tensions, raw memories and competing narratives. Inherited from 132 years of colonization and a bloody war of independence, this shared history remains a hot topic on both sides of the Mediterranean. Why has this war taken so long to name? What role do memories play in public debate? Is reconciliation possible?

Conference moderated by Justine Dujardin, Director of Nancy Libraries.
