Spectacle - Topaze

Topaze is a schoolteacher with impeccable civic sense and a modest salary.
Dismissed for being too honest, and influenced by the examples in front of him, he gradually becomes dishonest, and happy to be so, as, under the influence of a woman and an unscrupulous local councillor, he embarks on a business venture.

Topaze, created in 1928, was Pagnol's first theatrical success.
It is his great character comedy, the most classical, the most Moliéresque of his plays.
